Athlete Reset Retreat
The Athlete Reset Retreat is built for and by former athletes to help professional and former athletes rediscover themselves. Clearing the mental and emotional blocks and making space for new possibilities. We focus on practical tools and transformative workshops to guide you through this journey of self-discovery and career transition.
Sometimes the bravest thing an athlete can do isn’t to push harder, it’s to pause. Discover how “doing nothing” can help you reset your identity, quiet your mind, and rediscover who you are beyond the game.
Behind the Athlete Reset Retreat: Why “Doing Nothing” Can Change Everything
If you’ve spent years living by a clock or regimen: weights at 6:00, class at 9:00, practice at 3:00, travel on weekends — you were conditioned to believe that the more you do, the more progress you make and the more productive you are.
But when the final season ends, that belief can turn into burnout disguised as productivity.
The routines stop. The structure disappears. And suddenly, stillness feels wrong, unsafe, and uncomfortable.
For professional and former athletes, that’s where the real work begins — in the silence between what was and what’s next.
It’s why I created the Athlete Reset Retreat. Because sometimes, doing nothing isn’t avoidance; it’s awareness.
It’s the space where you meet yourself again.
The Science Behind Stillness
Modern neuroscience proves what elite performers like LeBron James and Naomi Osaka have shown the world: recovery and rest are not the opposite of progress they’re the foundation of it.
When we pause, something profound happens. The Default Mode Network (DMN) in the brain activates, it’s the same system linked to creativity, memory, and emotional regulation. Studies show that during moments of rest or meditation, your mind begins connecting ideas, resolving tension, and reimagining your life’s story.
Peter Crone calls this “the freedom of awareness” — realizing that clarity doesn’t come from control, but from surrender.
It’s not easy for former athletes to surrender. We’ve been rewarded our whole lives for pushing through.
But the truth is, the body adapts during recovery, not exertion. The nervous system resets when we pause, not when we hustle.
That’s the mindset shift for former athletes: learning that stillness is not the absence of growth it’s the soil where growth begins.
Why Doing Less Reveals More
The retreat isn’t about escaping your life; it’s about returning to it with a different perspective.
When you give yourself permission to stop performing, you finally have space to feel, to process who you’ve been and to imagine and feel into who you truly are.
This is where the athlete identity after retirement begins to expand.
It’s no longer about what you do, but how you live with clarity, purpose, and peace.

Why This Retreat Is Different
The Athlete Reset Retreat isn’t more than a wellness vacation. It’s a guided transformation for pro + former athletes who are ready to:
Rebuild identity beyond competition
Regulate their nervous system
Redefine what success and fulfillment look like
Reconnect with creativity, community, and peace
You won’t find rigid schedules or performance pressure.
You’ll find real conversations, movement, nature, and freedom the kind of space where your next season of life starts to take shape naturally.
What “Doing Nothing” Really Does
“Doing nothing” actually teaches you how to feel again.
It dissolves the armor built through years of pushing, proving, and performing.
It reconnects you to presence, the awareness that was always beneath the competition.
As Simon Sinek says, “Fulfillment comes when we live our lives on purpose.”
And as Peter Crone reminds us, “Freedom is the absence of resistance.”
At Can Jan, both collide, where the structure of sport meets the softness of being.
That’s the reset: doing less so you can finally be more.
Are You Ready to Step Into Peace?
Because this isn’t about escaping who you were.
It’s about reconnecting with who you’ve always been, before the medals, before the pressure, before the next goal.
This is where the journey home begins.
